Opening LetterDearest Students,
My name is Ms. Katie Watkins, and I will be your 9th-grade Reading teacher. Alas, with the shortening of days and the increasing chill of the winds, the new school year is upon us. Allow me to introduce myself before you and I venture into this new school year. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, experiencing the public school system throughout my childhood and teenage years. After graduating from Cottonwood High School in 2008, I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Communication from Westminster College. Because I am insane, I pursued my Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Education also from Westminster College. In 2015, I began teaching at Granger High School and love it. Additionally, I am endorsed in Teaching English as a Second Language and Basic Reading. Although losing myself in fantastical stories and epic poems consumes much of my time, I also love watching Netflix and YouTube videos. Currently, I am on my second round of watching all seasons of Bob’s Burgers. I would love to have a conversation with you about anything and everything (especially scary movies), so stop by my classroom so we can chat. By working together this year, we can create a classroom that will repace the definition of “epic.” With a little help from classmates, guardians and other teachers, we can create a safe and respectful environment that we will maintain throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you in class. Sincerely, Ms. Watkins |
